MK gets ready for a Literary Festival to remember

Date Posted:18/09/2018

More than 800 tickets have been sold so far for Milton Keynes Literary Festival this weekend. Headliners Mark Haddon, Lemn Sissay and Hollie McNish have just a handful of tickets left.

The festival, in its second year appears to have created a demand for ‘all things booky and wordy’ in MK.

Authors of memoirs, psychological thrillers, short stories and poetry will be descending on Holiday Inn MK from 21 - 24 September. There are still plenty of events to choose from including Sarfraz Manzoor whose memoir has recently been made into a film by Bend it Like Beckham director, Gurinder Chadha, and Stella Duffy, psychological thriller writer and creator of Fun Palaces.

The Holiday Inn will be transformed with furniture made of books, a book-nook to relax in between events, and a pop-up bookshop from Waterstones MK. Festival artist-in-residence, Suzanna Raymond, will be sketching throughout the weekend and sharing pics on social media.

Thanks to a grant from Milton Keynes Community Foundation, 16 - 25 year olds can access free tickets for more than 15 events.
